Til Death Do Us Part
Today, July 22nd, Jon and I would have celebrated our thirty third wedding anniversary. The day I stood on that platform saying "I Do", never would I have imagined, "Til death do us part" would have come so early. You think that you will grow old together, travel and see the world, spend lots of time playing with grandkids, and sit on that front porch in your rockers holding hands. Life seems invincible at that moment, oblivious to any and all heartache that may lay ahead of you.
In Isaiah 55:8 the Lord tells us, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord." That is a hard lesson to learn. But once you can come to that point in your life, where your trust is completely immersed in that fact, there is great peace. We then can allow the twist and turns of life to mold and shape us into truly what God desires for our life. It's just that most of the time we don't want to trust Him. We want to live out our life the way we think it should go.
So, as we journey through life's difficult roads, we enjoy the good times and make great memories. Just recently I heard a pastor friend say, "Good times don't last, but sweet memories do." I am no longer able to have good times with Jon, but I hold dear the sweet memories that God did allow us to share. Life is so short. None of us are promised tomorrow. Enjoy the good times and make those sweet memories! You do not know what the future holds. It will be from those memories that the Lord will bring you through difficult times, put a smile on your face, and bring some joy to your heart.
In honor of our 32 years, 2 months, and 3 days I share a video of sweet memories!
